Over 16 million passengers travel through TPA airport every year, which means it’s bound to have some busy parking lots at all hours of the day. There are ways to avoid this congestion, but it might take a little legwork to find an off-site parking lot that fits your needs and gives you peace of mind while you’re away. Let’s take a look at all your parking options so you can make the right decision.
On-Site Parking Facilities
Sometimes the convenience of parking on-site outweighs the cheaper prices and amenities you get at private parking providers, which is understandable.
|Short and Long-Term Parking||First hour is FREE$4 for 61 to 80 minutes$2 for every 20 minutes after thatMaximum: $20/day|
|Economy Parking (Includes Lot and Garage)||$1 per 20 minutesMaximum: $9/day|
|Valet Parking||$2 for every 30 minutes ($5 minimum fee)Maximum: $25/day|
|Cell Phone Lot||Free|
Note: Use the long-term garage or economy parking for vehicles over 7 feet tall.
Parking for disabled individuals is provided on all levels of the parking garage and right next to the bus stop near economy parking for your convenience. All curbs, doors, elevators, and doorways are handicapped accessible. After arriving at the airport, you can ask the ticketing counter attendants for wheelchair assistance.
It’s recommended that you contact your airline’s ticketing counter before you arrive so that all assistants aren’t currently with someone, especially if you’re traveling alone.
When entering the airport, use the designated SunPass lane to scan your transponder prior to entering the garage. Upon leaving, the computer will reread your transponder and charge your account appropriately, and it will then send a receipt to your email inbox that’s attached to your SunPass account. Short-term, long-term, and economy parking currently accepts SunPass users.
If you don’t wish to use SunPass, simply go to a normal lane and take a ticket from the machine and park your vehicle.
Depending on what you want, it can be slightly more expensive than the airport, however, you pay for what you get. In some cases, you can get a gated lot with 24/7 security, luggage assistance, 24-hour availability, valet parking, and more. Off-site parking providers won’t treat you like a ticket stub, either. You’ll get VIP attention at a reasonable price, but you’ll also have to plan your trip a little bit in advance and arrive at the lot early to catch the shuttle bus to the airport.
